Double Digit Multiplication

We have had to use a bit of double digit multiplication to solve a complicated maths problem. Today we are practicing our strategies.

Solve these problems, showing your work and clearly explaining your strategy:

4 x 13

6 x 23

12 x 10

13 x 20

14 x 24

When you finish, share your workings out and strategies with a learning buddy. Did you have different strategies?

After that.....your choice:

1. Make up a story problem that uses double digit multiplication. Can your learning buddy solve it?

and/or

2. Make a Movenote or iMovie video explaining/teaching a double digit multiplication strategy.

and/or

3. Leave a comment below explaining your strategy.

  1. This is how I worked out 14 x 24 = 20 x 10 = 200. 4 x 20 = 80. 4 x 10 = 40. 4 x 4 = 16. so 200 + 80 + 40 + 16 = 260

    1. I can see you are splitting those numbers up Finlay, well done. Check your answer with a calculator....something went wrong there- can you spot what it is?
